Obesity is a problem in the West especially the USA. This problem is not only affecting adults but is affecting our kids in increasing numbers. Overweight can cause many problems especially high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart problems. It is also devastating for kids and can cause severe depression and mental problems.
The roots of this problem can be found in our lifestyle. A whirlwind of activity with little time left to consider what we are eating. It is all too easy to grab a hamburger and fries with a milk shake on the side rather than a nutritious meal. Single Mothers find it almost impossible to go ho,e after a hard day's work and cook for the kids. It is just so much easier to stop by the fast food shop and order a quick ready made meal.
Unfortunately this is just what starts kids off on the downward trail to obesity. Fast foods are loaded with fats salt and sugars, not to mention an excess of carbohydrates. This will all combine to put on weight fast.
In order to break this habit you will need to take a look at what you are eating. Even fast foods have changed their menus now. They do offer healthier choices and you should look over these carefully before you choose your meal.
If you want to really turn things around then you can invest in a slow cooker that will cook the meal while you are at work. This will actually save you time because you will not have to wait in line at the fast food place. With a food processor you can easily cut up fruits and vegetables for healthy snacks for your kids.
Change over to whole grains and vegetables with fiber that will fill you up and let you eat less. Drink more water as this will flush out toxins and fill you up. But above all try to get enough rest and sleep. Lack of sleep will put your body into a stress mode, and cause it to retain fat cells, preventing you from losing weight.
